Our Story
Edward and Kathy O’Laughlin began their journey into the world of Maryland viticulture in 2014. Although this is a new endeavor for them, it is not at all foreign to Ed. He has always had an interest in farming. He discovered his green thumb at the age of eight and has been a farmer ever since.
A LONG TIME COMING
Our first planting in spring 2017 included over 6,000 vines consisting of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Chardonnay. Over the next four years, we planted an additional 14,000 vines. Two new “up and coming” varieties, Albariño, a white grape from NW Spain and Teroldego, a red grape from NE Italy, were added to the vineyard in 2019.
We reached our goal of 20,000 vines in 2022 by expanding to our west block with an additional 4,500 vines. The majority are Cabernet Franc with a small test patch of Pinot Noir.
Six Wicket Vineyards now has a total of 15 acres under vines!
