It All started in 2014
After a long search and multiple screenings of potential properties with our geologist, Ernest (Bubba) Beasley, specialist in vineyard soils, we found “OUR” vineyard! His expertise was critical in our decision to proceed with our dream.
Our first planting in spring 2017 included over 6,000 vines consisting of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Chardonnay. Over the next four years, we planted an additional 14,000 vines.
Our goal of 20,000 vines was reached in 2022 by expanding to our west block with an additional 4,500 vines. We now have seven different varietals of vinifera grapes–two whites and five reds.

Where we are Today
We have reached full production in the vineyard with 15 acres under vines. We continue to produce top quality grapes destined to make premium Maryland wines. Our varietals include two whites, Chardonnay and Albariño and five reds, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Teroldego and Pinot Noir.
We have recently begun to produce our own wines which include Albariño, Rosé and Cabernet Franc (available for purchase at our winery or online) and will release two new wines in spring of 2024, Petit Verdot and Teroldego.
We have opened our vineyard to visitors by appointment. At Six Wicket Vineyards, our guests will experience a guided walk through the vines as well as a tasting of our premium wines in the beautiful setting of the Catoctin Mountains.
